Julia is a highly regarded and trusted massage therapist with over 13 years experience working with clients, resolving musculoskeletal complaints and facilitating a sense of balance to the stresses of modern day living. She has a unique, tailored approach to combine a variety of treatments including Deep Tissue and Sports Massage, Reflexology, Pregnancy Massage, Swedish and Dry-Needling Medical Acupuncture. Being a final year Osteopathy student, Julia has also developed an even deeper understanding of the body that truly complements her warm and intuitive personality.
Julia’s journey in holistic therapy began in early 2005 when she enrolled on a Holistic Massage course having never even experienced a massage before. Following just one class, she knew it was the career for her and subsequently enrolled at the University of Brighton where she spent two years successfully studying the Complementary Healthcare HND. This full time course covered a multitude of holistic practices such as Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Sports Massage, Fitness Studies, Counselling, Nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Having worked in both the UK and Australia, Julia has been able to establish her own distinctive healing practice and is proudly accredited by the Complementary Therapists Association.
Areas of Interest
Due to the diversity of clientele over her years in massage practice, it would be somewhat difficult for Julia to suggest a specialist area of interest. Having a passion for offering a first-class service to people from all walks of life means adapting to the precise needs of the individual in any given appointment. In a Pregnancy Massage for example, Julia will create a more nurturing treatment for the mother-to-be, attending to the strains related to changes within the body. In contrast, clients presenting with chronic, muscular pain or injury will be treated with Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage techniques and may be prescribed specialist exercises to instill better posture and mobility to prevent and treat existing musculoskeletal problems. We have endless opportunities to affect the healing of our body, mind and soul so why not learn to listen to yourself intuitively and watch how life moves forward with ease and grace.
There is no “one-size, fit’s all” method when performing bodywork, however at the very root of Julia’s treatments she is able to help increase the client’s awareness in the areas of the body being massaged. She facilitates this by allowing her hands to “listen” to the rhythms and tensions in the body, remaining present and focussed at all times. This awareness that arises in itself is a form of healing.
Julia’s cheerful and knowledgeable character provides the perfect foundation for an outstanding practitioner and through continual self-development has plenty of “go-to” tools, enabling a unique and personalised experience. Whether your pain is related to stress or injury or you simply want to release accumulated tensions or muscle fatigue and improve sleep, you will be in safe hands with Julia.
In more recent years, Julia has also been studying Osteopathy at the University College of Osteopathy and has also gained a Western Medical Acupuncture qualification at the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
