Osteopathy During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes remarkable transformations — from postural adjustments and weight redistribution to hormonal shifts that affect joint stability and flexibility.
As the baby grows, the pelvis widens and the spine curves more to accommodate the new balance of weight. While these changes are normal, they can sometimes lead to tension, strain or pain.
The hormone relaxin softens ligaments and joints to prepare for delivery, but it can also make the body more vulnerable to misalignment and discomfort.
Gentle osteopathic treatment can help the body adapt, release tension and support overall wellbeing throughout pregnancy.
Osteopathy may help to:
Relieve back, neck and pelvic pain
Ease sciatica and hip discomfort
Improve posture and mobility
Reduce tension in the ribs and diaphragm to aid breathing
Support circulation and lymphatic flow
Promote relaxation and better sleep
All treatments are gentle, safe and non-invasive, tailored to your stage of pregnancy and always in consideration of your comfort.
Postnatal Osteopathic Care
After childbirth, a woman’s body needs time to recover and realign. Postnatal osteopathy focuses on supporting the healing process, helping the body regain strength and balance while easing tension from pregnancy and delivery.
Postnatal osteopathy may help to:
Restore pelvic and spinal alignment
Relieve back, neck or shoulder pain from feeding or lifting
Improve energy and mobility
Support recovery after caesarean or natural birth
Encourage relaxation and emotional wellbeing
Each treatment is adapted to your postnatal stage and health needs. You may bring your baby to your appointment if that makes you more comfortable — sessions are relaxed and supportive for mothers and infants alike.
The IBCcare Approach
Dr Bramati, PhD combines her experience in cranial, structural and visceral osteopathy with a holistic understanding of women’s health.
She considers not only the physical effects of pregnancy but also the emotional and lifestyle factors that contribute to wellbeing.
Where needed, she collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure complete, integrative care.
Osteopathy in pregnancy is about more than pain relief — it’s about helping your body function at its best so you can feel balanced, comfortable and prepared for motherhood.
